Frank, our watercolor teacher, is just great. We meet at 9:00 each Friday morning and paint, with instruction, until 1:00 - one of the best parts of my week. Here he is showing how to put on a wet wash. The other students are not only cruisers but are part of a vast expat community that live in La Paz. This is really fun for me and I am totally enjoying it.
The above painting is actually a lesson in learning how to do a wet on wet wash. I love washes and had lots of fun doing this one.
Below I am trying my hand at a new type of watercolor (for me at least) called Gauche and pronounced gwash to rhyme with squash. It is thicker than watercolors and you cannot do a wash with it but it is perfect for my Symbolist paintings. I named this one "Earth, Sky and Sea" and really enjoyed composing it.
The bottom paintings are a more controlled wet wash painting; plus I love to paint abstract flowers.
